Wonderful stay!We managed to stay for 3 days before the covid 19 really kicked in.we had a wonderful stay the Brantholme.A class act, clean, warm but more importantly the owners are amazing, always ready to chat, they help in anyway they can, rooms are excellent and very spacious with amazing views of the mountains, yet a stone's throw from Ambleside and all it has to offer. We have visited the Brantholme before and will be back real soon.Thank you for a memorable stay.

Hi,I'm so sorry, this a late review. My daughter and I came to you in november, the day after my mum's funeral, and you were both so kind to us both. From the minute we walked in you could have done anymore for us!Your place is beautiful, and has a great atmosphere. The breakfast was beautiful and plentiful, and you both always had a smile on your faces, and always enquiring how our break was going.Massive hug to both of you, and keep up the good work. We'll be back once this virus has blown over!Take care Gaynor and Eva. Booked a 2 night stay with hubby and our border collie and it was more or less perfect. The room was spacious, nice tea tray, comfy bed, lovely bathroom and fab breakfast. Location was superb with only a 5 minute walk into town. Our dog was made welcome - only thing that would be helpful for those who take dogs would be to have an outside tap that you could use to wash your dog off before entering. We did obviously take towels etc but the dogs do get pretty dirty when the weather isn't so good. We would definitely stay at the Brantholme again without hesitation ????

We've just returned from a 2 night stay at Brantholme..The purpose of the visit was my birthday and a very much needed break for usWe stayed in Room 4 , a Suite with lovely views and we took our Dog with us .Lovely warm welcome , everything explained...we read the welcome book in the room which tells you everything you need to know about the b and b and was very helpfulRoom was facilitated great , very comfortable and absolutely everything you need , the bath robes were a great touch .Myself and Ian don't tend to ever want much whilst we are away , we aren't high maintenance and as long as we can have our Dog with us we are happy, so it was great in thst respectOne thing I will say , as opposed to some b and b there was no noise ! No hearing other Guests flush toilets , no boiler noises, you really do get a restful sleep ,Breakfast is a,small window 8.30 -9.30 , and our Dog was happy to be left in the room, we felt that possibly breakfast was slightly rushed , but on reading the welcome pack I think the Hosts would be accommodating if you really struggled with the timeBut the food was delicious , I would say the best produce I have had on a break away.

I stayed there for 2 nights. It's a really nice place to stay in Ambleside. The staff is very friendly and took care of our needs. The views from our room was stunning! Definitely recommend to people wanting to explore this part of the Lake District.

We have just come back from a weekend here. It was booked for my husband and I for our golden wedding anniversary. We didn't want to go anyway because we didn't want to leave our dog. They booked us here and we couldn't have got anything better. We we're greeted with such a warm welcome and so friendly by Jo and Frank. The room was excellent looking over the mountains. Breakfasts was outstanding and our dog was so happy and no bother to anyone. Free car park and some lovely picturesque walks and a 2 minute walk into town for pub meals and shops We would just like to say a big Thank you to you both and will definitely be black.

The accommodation is clean and spacious and the breakfast was fantastic. However a couple of things to be aware of. The website clearly states dog friendly but it’s not until you book and pay that I was made aware that they are not allowed in the breakfast room or left in the room alone (wouldn’t do that anyway). Had I known this I wouldn’t have booked as my dog is 10 months old and isn't happy being on his own especiallyin unfamiliar surroundings. They suggested I put him in the car but he would have brought the place down so my husband and I had to eat in relay. Not very relaxing!Secondly whilst I appreciate the issues with COVID 19 is evolving I had kept in touch with the owners to check all ok to come.We arrived on Friday 20th just as the PM announced closer of all pubs &bars and restaurants and they insisted on taking the second night payment at check in claiming it was to ensure no rush at check out.I felt under pressure to pay.We only stayed 1 night despite paying for 2. Whilst I do understand the financial impact for small businesses of these unprecedented times I believe they should have suggested we take a view about the second night once we understood the impact to Ambleside and potentially transferred our booking or provided a voucher for a future date.We left a day early as the prospect of sitting in our room was not appealing. As we left I tried to contact the owners but the bell on reception had been removed so I just left the key. This review is the first time they have been in touch. Not great customer service to be sure, hence the rating.
Thanks for your time and words. Please be aware, it is the norm not to allow dogs into the breakfast room during breakfast service due to health and safety and also other users(some don\'t like dogs /allergies)If you ask the questions we gladly answer any queries .Not once did you ask in your correspondence prior to arrival any questions about dogs.Information is on our website and in your room welcome book which we asked you to read.We offer a suggestion that nervous dogs are put in their familiar surroundings of the car and few that need to have no problem. We always say Well Behaved dogs are always welcome so its your decision if your dog, regardless of age, is able to settle in their holiday surroundings.During our hour by hour updates on Covid-19 we can only work with the same government news as do the rest of the public, as it evolves. As it tells you on our terms and conditions we take only the first night deposit on a booking(many take full payment)and have the bill settled on arrival so we don\'t have interruption at breakfast service for those leaving on early start nor congestion of people leaving at the same time nor problems with cards(from past experience)It is EVEN WISER that no congestion whatsoever caused at reception for our OWN SAFETY as well as our guests during that time because of COVID-19.It was\" your \" choice to leave after one night i understand, although all our other guests remained happy. Ambleside restaurants at that time remained open for the weekend and for those that closed offered take out meals. We reacted immediately to the situation providing plates and cutlery in the breakfast room for all our guests. No one at that time were told to stay off the streets and Cumbria was still enjoyed by walkers. The bell on the desk was there but there is also the telephone. Please remember we are a bed and breakfast not a 24 hour concierge Hotel.Customer service? We never ask our guests for a review(other booking platforms do) but we are always gratefulwhen someone does leave one, so we are a bit puzzled why you write \" this is the first time they have been in touch\" .We try to Reply to all our reviews at the earliest convenient time .Many thanks.

This is a great dog friendly B and B. The owners are working so hard to make a fantastic business as well as to ensure you have a wonderful time. Yesterday morning they were told to close. Please support this B and B once the Coronavirus restrictions lift.

Excellent location, less that 5 minutes from centre but so quiet and with amazing uninterrupted views of park and fells beyond. We were made very welcome with our two labs and towels are thoughtfully provided by the entrance door to wipe them down &dry them off. Our room was spacious, bright, comfortable and exceptionally clean. A generous choice at breakfast, hot food all freshly cooked. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Brantholme B&B for 2 nights on our first trip to the Lake District. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. Quiet and relaxing, but within a 2 minute walk to Ambleside and all the restaurants, shops and bars. The breakfast included everything we could’ve wanted and more! We were spoilt for choice. The accommodation was beautifully clean and the bed was one of the biggest and comfiest I think we’ve ever stayed in. Dressing gown and slippers also a lovely touch! Will be highly recommending to friends and family. Thank you Jo &Frank for having us!

Great B&B in a quiet location of Ambleside with good views to the west from the breakfast room. Our room (2) was East facing but spacious and easy access to the outside, needed to let our dog out! The breakfast is comprehensive and lovely. We will stay again.

Gorgeous place run by Jo and Frank who can’t do enough for you! Lovely clean rooms, really tasty fresh breakfasts and brilliant location to explore Ambleside without having to drive. Jo and Frank welcomed us and our dog with open arms and really helped to make our stay special. Jo provided coffee and biscuits on our arrival which was a lovely touch. They provided us with lots of recommendations on places to visit, local walks and restaurants. Brilliant place to take your dog, they leave towels at the back door to wipe off muddy paws. As dogs aren’t allowed in the dining room they brought our breakfast up to our room for us which was lovely. The room was spacious and had the added bonus of a bath and a shower, lovely to have a long hot soak after a day of hiking and exploring. The back door has night time access using your room key so no need to worry about getting back for a certain time. Would 100% recommend and we will be back. Stunning place and really lovely people!

Owners were really friendly and welcoming. This place was perfect, spotlessly clean throughout. Choices for breakfast with cereal, full cooked and kippers. My god my Hubby went on and on about how great the kippers were!!! Room was lovely with chairs to sit and look at the views. Lovely location, not far from park as we had dogs and close to the shops which also housed dog friendly pubs. The views from the hotel were outstanding.
